Why kannur need an airport?

The most of the air traffic both in and out from Calicut and Managlore airports are actually by the Kannur and nearby towns .Also a great number of Kannur population have overseas employment. The recent unfortunate air crash at Mangalore will also highlight more than 50% of the travelers originated from Kannur and nearby areas which all the more stresses the urgent need of getting the airport operational in Kannur.

Kannur is called the land of myths and legends and credited with rich traditions, strong cultural background, tourism, Naval academy which is situated at Ezhimala and all these make kannur at top. Sizable number of student tourists and research scholars particularly from U.K., Germany, France, USA, etc visit here for their academic and research related work (Ayurveda, Yoga, Kalari and Theyyam etc) .Also they have engaged to enjoy the tourist places like payyambalam beaches, Most famous drive-in each Muzhuppilangadu, Handloom industry and folk arts ,St. Angelo’s Fort, Thalassery Fort, Snake Park at Parassinikadavu , Madayi Para, Paithanmala .
