The third phase of land acquisition for the Kannur Airport is facing obstacles

The third phase of land acquisition for the Kannur Airport is facing obstacles following the proposed agitation by the pro-CPM Kerala Karshaka Sangam on December 8. The Sangam decided to organize a collectorate march on December 8 demanding revision of the price of the land under third phase of acquisition. State President of Karshaka Sangham E P Jayarajan, MLA will launch the collectorate march, Mr K Bhaskaran Master, Action Committee Member and Karshaka Sangham Mattanoor Area Secretary told a press conference here today. Mr Bhaskaran claimed the price fixation and the categorization of the 783 acres of land to be acquired in the third phase was not scientific. He said the package fixed during the previous LDF government for the second phase of land acquisition should be followed in the third phase too. He said the district level purchasing committee should refix the rate and issue a renotification instead of following the previous notification issued in 2008-09, as the land prices had gone up considerably.
